Chios Legacy Gala

The Chios Legacy Gala highlights our enduring commitment to preserving the rich traditions and history of Chios. Together, we aim to inspire and educate our members, ensuring the legacy of Chios thrives for future generations.

“Journey and Reflections on Chios, and its Profound International Legacy” Panel Discussion

Peter Gerazounis, P.E., Senior Principal and COO of MG Engineering and President of the Panchiaki “Korais” Society of New York participated in this Webinar Panel Discussion on Sunday, November 17, 2024. The panel discussion was introduced and moderated by Lou Katsos EMBCA’s President and also included Mayor Giannis Malafis of Chios, Author/ Writer/ Educator Aggeliki Mastromichalaki, PHD; Author/Writer/Clemson University Lecturer and EMBCA Director Alexander Billinis ; Markos Marinakis, CEO of Marinakis Chartering & Founder of the Kardamylian Foundation.

Commemoration of the Liberation of Chios

On November 10, 2024, The Panchiaki "Korais" Society co-hosted with the Chian Federation the 112th Anniversary of the Liberation of Chios. A memorial service and doxology was held following the liturgy at the Church of the Holy Resurrection, Brookville.

Afterward, a Cultural Event and Reception was held in the Church’s Fellowship Hall. with the keynote speaker, Dr. Angeliki Mastromichalaki presenting “The History of Chios Through the History of its Unique Kampos,” exploring the island’s path to freedom. An English-language discussion will follow. Marika Reynolds offered the presentation in English.

112th Anniversary Dinner Dance

On January 20, 2024, we celebrated the 112th Anniversary of the Panchiaki "Korais" Society of New York at Leonard's Palazzo of Great Neck.

200 Year Anniversary / Commemoration of the Massacre of Chios of 1822 - June 11, 2022

Panchiaki Korais Society co-hosted the event with the Chian Federation and Chios Societies of America and Canada. A memorial service was held at Saint Demetrios in Astoria followed by a luncheon and presentation at the Chian Cultural Center in Astoria.

Peter Gerazounis, President of the Panchiaki Korais Society gives a presentation beginning with background leading up to 1822 including detailed and dramatic depictions of what unfolded in the months of March through June of that year, where three quarters of the island’s population was either slaughtered or enslaved, finishing with the outcome bringing us through present day.
