Our Mission
The Panchiaki “Korais” Society was founded to enable cooperation and united effort among Chian Americans to provide effective support and guidance among their members and material and moral assistance to their place of origin. As the oldest, all-inclusive Chian Society in New York, fundraising and investment income proceeds are distributed for various charitable, religious and educational purposes, as well as funding programs targeted to help instill to its members the traditions, history and customs of the Island of Chios and assure the continuance of the educational process of the history of Chios.
Background
“Korais” was established in 1912 to create a lasting network of Greek Americans with Chian roots to preserve our heritage through the sponsorship and initiation of programs that support Hellenic culture, benefit our members and their families, and honor our ancestors.
The Society is a philanthropic organization based in the New York City metropolitan area.
Members represent accomplished men and women in the Chian-Greek American community.
Membership is open to anyone with Chian roots.
We are a chapter of and proudly associate with the CHIOS SOCIETIES OF THE AMERICAS & CANADA who perpetuate and celebrate our rich heritage throughout the Americas.
