Queens College Center for Byzantine & Modern Greek Studies Awards Ceremony

Tuesday, May 16, 2023

On May 16, the Consulate General of the Republic of Greece in New York hosted the 2023 Certificate of Achievement Awards Ceremony of The Center for Byzantine & Modern Greek Studies Program of Queens College.

This year's Harry J. Psomiades Memorial Lecture entitled "The Present and the Future of the Modern Greek Studies in the U.S." was offered by Consul General Dinos Konstantinou who spoke of the importance of programs such as these to maintain connections with our roots and our heritage.

As part of the ceremony, two distinguished students, Chloe Falas and Despina Boudoris, were awarded Panchiaki Korais Society Graduate Studies Scholarships.

The program at Queens College is designed to provide a detailed knowledge of the history, language and literature, institutions, customs and culture of the Greek people from Byzantine times to the present. Our society has historically funded two $1,000 scholarships awarded during their Commencement/Awards Dinner every year.

Best of luck to all the students, faculty and administration for continued success in promoting the education of our history and culture.
